Extra Halloween Pet Tips

October 26, 2013 in Aerowood Animal Hospital

A few more pet tips for Halloween:

1. It is best to have your pet wear their collars and ID tags on Halloween night. With all the excitement and visitors throughout the night and the door being opened multiple times, Halloween is a peak time for runaways and lost pets.

2. Putting your pet in a separate room during peak trick-or-treating hours could be the way to go. Even the most social pets should be limited to the amount of ghouls and goblins they encounter throughout the night.

3. Animal groups do report a rise of pet abuse around this holiday. Pets have been harassed and injured by unsupervised youth on this night. If possible, we recommend keeping your furry friends inside during the busiest times of the night.

Feel free to find ways to let you pet in on the Halloween season as well in animal friendly ways like serving them their favorite treat and playing with them. We hope everyone has a happy and safe Halloween!
